An Open-Hardware and Low-Cost Maintenance Tool for Light-Electric-Vehicle Batteries

The large increment expected in the diffusion of light-electric-vehicles will raise several issues that must be addressed to cope with this trend, including battery diagnostic and maintenance services. system is most expensive part majority e-mobility devices. Therefore, manufacturers tend reduce cost by using simple management systems provide only basic safety features. Possible advanced functionalities are not implemented may lose performanceduring its use. Widely spread centers thus required support mobility electrification process, but their limited high ofprofessional characterization instruments. This work proposes an open-hardware low-cost tool architecture can used common laboratory based on a relay-matrix monitor integrated circuit. It able completely characterize optimize state independently also gives figure individual aging cells. shows experimental validation 16-cells prototype. results demonstrate utilizing brings best possible identifies degradation cells terms capacity resistance.
